A gorgeous crystal faceted decanter and stopper made in Sweden by Orrefors and designed by artist, Nils Landberg (1907-1991). The decanter has a slice-cut octagonal base with a faceted, flat-topped stopper. The bottom of the decanter is marked, "Orrefors NL1623." A beautiful addition to any well-stocked bar.
This decanter has been discontinued from Orrefors.
The decanter is 8.25" H, 5" W, and 5" D.
From the British Museum:
Nils Landberg was a Swedish glass designer. On completing his studies at the Industrial Design School in Gothenburg, he joined the engraving school at Orrefors and stayed on as a trainee designer. His early commercial work was restrained but in the late 1940s, he developed the slender glass for which he is now celebrated. The Tulip series dates from 1953. Over the years new shapes and colours were added regularly to the prototypes. Landberg remained at Orrefors until his retirement in 1972, each year refining his earlier designs and adding new ones. less
