Rare art ceramic figure of the 1920s: depiction of a young musician dressed as pierrette, sitting on a pedestal with her lute, wearing a wide red costume with knee-length harem pants and particularly large beige ruff, the garments decorated with colored borders, the left leg slung over the right, holding with the right hand the lute placed on the hip. The figure sitting on a cuboid is based on another square flat base with rounded corners and edges, artist's signature 'thomasch' on the back of the base. Designed by wilhelm thomasch (1893 - 1964), who was an academic sculptor and ceramic artist, operations manager at goldscheider vienna, from 1926 had his own production in sierndorf. Thomasch designed this model circa 1922. Made circa 1922 manufactory: goldscheider vienna / austria material & technique: hand-crafted ceramics, white earthenware, hand-painted, glossy finish size: height: 33,0 cm / 12.99 in width: 20,0 cm / 7.87 in depth: 17,0 cm / 6.69 in marks: model number 5030 / 296 / 4 goldscheider wien (vienna) manufactory stamp made in austria / hand-decorated painter's and former's signs existing artist signature 'thomasch' on back of the base this piece is attributed to the mentioned designer/maker. It has no attribution mark and no
official proof of authenticity,
