This circa 1930-1950s lacquered box was hand-carved and painted by an Indian artisan and would have originally been used as a vessel to store kumkum powder for use in social and religious ceremonies.

Rich brown tones are offset by a mottling design in bright orange-red and hand-painted floral motifs. The top of the lid features a metal flower with a small ring.

A beautiful heirloom with rich patina and unique pedestal shape, this would make a great addition to any collection. Use it to store jewelry, other small odds and ends, or simply as a piece of decor.

Stands approximately 7” tall with the lid on and has a diameter of 3 3/8” at the widest point. See less
