An antique Royal Standard of the United Kingdom, possibly by Benjamin Edgington, London. The fabric is in a giltwood frame under glass. Each of the four quadrants on the flag represent England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales. The Lion Rampant is a symbol for Scotland while the figure of a woman and harp represents Ireland. The vibrant colors have stood the test of time well.
This is a wonderful piece of antique British memorabilia.

Benjamin Edgington was a 19th c. marquee, tent, flag, and rick cloth manufacturer. Following the construction of London Bridge he moved his premises to 2, Duke Street, Southwark, London, a location right by the new bridge. The firm had a Royal Warrant of Appointment from the British Monarch. Such a Warrant is granted as a mark of recognition to people or companies who have regularly supplied goods or services to the Royal Household. The granting of Warrants continues to this day. less
