Description: 19th Century French-made brass Aumbry features Champleve' (a variation of Cloisonne') trim on the door and name plate, Pastor Bonus, … more 19th Century French-made brass Aumbry features Champleve' (a variation of Cloisonne') trim on the door and name plate, Pastor Bonus, and finely carved metal figures and detail on the interior and exterior. This originally would have held sacred vessels, books, reliquaries and oils for anointing in a Catholic Church, but has been previously used as a safe for valuables papers and could easily serve as a liquor cabinet or jewelry safe. Unlocking and opening the door reveals the magnificent tableau within, a multitude of crowned and adoring figures, possibly representing the kings of the earth, prostrating themselves before the one true King. A 5 point locking system and the original key guarantee security for your treasures. The heavy double walled and insulated tin box, meant to be recessed and secured into a wall, allows for the attachment of the face plate with 4 bolts. Likely originally upholstered inside, it could relatively easily be refitted with a fine cloth interior. less
