This set of stunning and rare antique Portieux French glasses is the perfect stemware to finish of a beautiful table scape for a dinner party. The color and the curves of the glassware would make a gorgeous and stylish addition to a bar or a bar cart; and open shelving in a kitchen too!
Opaline glass, usually opaque glass or crystal, either white or coloured, was made in France between approximately 1810 and 1890. The Portieux Vallerysthal Company produced beautiful opaline glass. Under the patronage of Duke Leopold of Lorraine, Francois Magnien founded the company in 1705 in Vosges, France, close to the raw materials needed to make glass. Vallerystahl began their glass production in 1836. Although production of it mostly ceased by 1890, opaline glass remained a popular collectible, particularly among those with an affinity for 19th-century style. With this information in mind it would date these glasses 1836-1890 for production.
