Hand-knotted in wool, circa 1960-1970, a 6x9 rug believed to hail from Zeki Müren - latest to join Rug & Kilim’s collection of vintage selections.
On the Design:
Inspired by French Aubusson and Savonnerie rugs, this is a beautiful example of Müren’s eclectic designs. His talent for taking any style and giving it a playful mid-century modern edge with the most subversive colors. Connoisseurs will note the employment of greens - never seen used in such a way in an Aubusson.
Besides green, the floral-medallion pattern revels in brown and an elegant accent play - beautifully complementing the distressed appeal.
