Decorative Hibachi 火鉢, crafted from a tree trunk with a custom-made copper lining, Meiji period, circa 1868-1912.
What makes this hibachi unique are the numerous old repairs and restorations and the beautifully aged wood structure.
The copper lining has acquired a lovely patina over the years of use.
This authentic piece is a rare interior decoration and becomes even more beautiful when adorned with plants/flowers.
