Motivated by an encouraged interest in art, he began painting at an early age. In 1986 the first professional studio was set up in Essen, and from 1988 works were shown in regional exhibitions. In 1995, the studio moved to Düsseldorf, and national and international presentations at art fairs and galleries ensured a steadily growing level of recognition.
Döring's early works are characterized by the historical highlights of Pop Art in the 60s and 70s; the thematic presence in his parents' home had an impact on his work. Iconic personalities, revolutionary characters, comics, Marvel and brand stories, advertising claims, headlines, typography\. Aesthetic worlds that have always surrounded Döring are constantly present, were and are used by the artist as raw material to develop and counteract his own time-defining stories on canvas. This versatile approach remains the core of his daily work to this day.
