Heavily hand carved with botanical motifs and ornamented with original brass chinoiserie hardware. One long drawer and two compartments with doors offer storage while two upper shelves and the lower shelf offer display space.
The distance from the floor to the marble top serving surface is 43 inches.
Originally this was a lower washstand but at some point in time the antique case iron legs were added to raise up the piece into a sideboard. While normally I look for pieces in original condition I thought this was a particularly good modification. It allows this stunning piece to serve a modern function, unlike antique washstands which are low and difficult to use today. less
