These andirons are clearly different from others on the internet for sale. They are heavy and have a keystone type of fitting (visible in photo) where the thick heavy cast iron log holders are connected to the figural Hessian soldiers, rather than having lighter-weight metal log holders connected by nuts and bolts. This attests to their being older than most others available for sale. The pitting in the cast iron is also indicative of age.

The figural Hessian soldiers are approximately 16.5 inches tall, and the length of the andirons from front to back is approximately 17 inches. The width is approximately 9.25 inches.

They do have expected signs of age and use, but they are sturdy and stable. less
