Rare in the fact that it is all three original pieces, in excellent condition. A lavabo is a device used to provide water for the washing of hands. It consists normally of a ewer or container of some kind to pour water, and a bowl to catch the water as it falls off the hands. A lavabo is essentially a sink or washbasin that was used in a dining room or kitchen setting, before indoor plumbing. This piece is beautifully adorned with a scene from famed Rococo Master Painter, Francois Boucher. Boucher's painting technique was that of lush detailed vignette's of "ample" women and their suitors. This piece was probably made in the late 1940s. This was when Ardalt Inc. started importing fine porcelain pieces from Japan. The company imported from all over the world, but Japan was by far their main source. This piece has no chips, cracks or crazing. I wonderful find. Pieces measure water pot, including lid: 10-1/2" tall, width from edge of the handles 8". Bulge out: 3". Bowl: 3 3/4" tall, width from side to side 9 1/4"; Bulge out: 3 1/2”. This piece is for decorative purposes only. less
