Pedestal standing on a round base with open worked mascaron, tendrils, flowers and bows, on which lies the winged sphinx. Finely chiseled and gilded. Paris, circa 1870. Bronze sphinx patinated in black. Annotation: the representation of these chimney-goats goes back to originals of f. J. Belanger. Such pieces were also made by thomire. Literature: see h.
