Dating from the turn of the twentieth century, this panel originates from Hebei, a province in north eastern China, and would have typically been installed atop an internal door or entrance of a wealthy home. This panel is characteristic of its style, featuring relief-carved figures of five ladies within two floral patterns. Bordered by frames with carvings of fierce creatures at the end, it is ideal for wall decoration above a sideboard or bed, or as an ornamental piece above a doorway. See less
