Late 19th century, most likely Scandinavian, featuring a thick heavy-duty solid wood top with a variety of spots for working, tools, and carpentry implements including a long recessed trough, adjustable length vice and hand crank wood screw clamp.
The workbench features an all wood construction with square dowels, hand hewn joinery, turned wooden vice screw elements and handles, with the only metal shown in the entire construction a single lag bolt shown at each end, identifying its age as very early. The top has been worked to a uniform surface and shows over a century of heavy wear, tear and use, with original warm dark rich distressed patina.
The work bench rests on a later antique trestle-form mortise through-tenoned wooden base stand in a worn dark brown stain.
