The painting measures framed 4 feet wide x 3 feet high (48" x 36" and 2. 1/2"deep. Unframed about 39 1/4" wide x 29 1/4" high. The frame is in excellent condition and wired in the back as shown on attached photographs.

Barker captures a cold winter’s day in bustling early 20th century in New York. Based on our research, this is a replica of the work tittled " Elevated, Columbus Avenue, New York" by Gifford Reynolds Beal (1916). In a muted palette of whites and grays and reds, this impressionistic masterpiece shows people greeting loved ones under the shadow of the constructed towering “L,” where four wooden coaches departed the Street Station. The Progressive Era is beautifully portrayed in this mix of leisure travel made possible by the hard labor of workers and their horses. This is a lovely depiction of a time now remembered with great love and nostalgia. less
