The painting depicts three men napping in a field under umbrellas with farm buildings on the horizon. Executed on a wood panel and presented in gilt wood frame.

The Macchiaioli were a group of Italian painters active in Tuscany in the second half of the nineteenth century. They strayed from antiquated conventions taught by the Italian art academies and did much of their painting outdoors in order to capture natural light, shade, and colour.

Wonderful small size - measures 9 7/8" x 6 3/4" framed. Good condition. Unsigned. See less
