Alfenide, also called white metal, is a metallic alloy imitating silver that the Halphen brothers1 made known in 1850.
Compared to the solid silver utensils that it tends to imitate, it has the following advantages:
- greater hardness
- greater longevity
Compared to silver metal utensils it has the advantage of being solid and not corroding.
The Alfénide factory was purchased in 1880 by the CHRISTOFLE company.
