*Greenwich Flint Glass Company was a glass manufacturer that operated in Indiana from 1969 to 1972. The company was founded by Lancaster Colony Corporation, which had acquired the Bischoff Glass Company of West Virginia in 1963. Lancaster Colony moved Bischoff's molds and designs to Indiana and created Greenwich Flint Glass as a new line of glass. Greenwich Flint Glass was known for its modern and innovative designs. The company's products were made in a variety of colors, including amber, blue, green, and ruby. Greenwich Flint Glass also produced a line of hand-blown glass items. Greenwich Flint Glass products were popular with collectors and designers. The company's products were sold in high-end stores and boutiques across the United States. In 1972, Lancaster Colony Corporation discontinued the Greenwich Flint Glass line. The company wanted to focus on its core business of food and beverage manufacturing. Today, Greenwich Flint Glass is a sought-after collectible. The company's products are valued for their high quality and their unique designs.
*Wayne Husted earned his BFA and BA in English, then his MFA in ceramic art, Wayne graduated from Alfred University prepared to demonstrate his creativity. However, his opportunity to showcase his talents began while he was still a student. Blenko Glass Company, which was based in Milton, West Virginia, sought a designer- and AU knew just who to recommend. Despite his inexperience with glass, Wayne was hired as Director of Design. Over the course of his ten years with the company, Wayne created over 600 innovative, unique, and nonfunctional designs. His pieces, which were inspired by nature but decorative in form, distinguished him as one of Blenko’s most popular, talented, and prolific designers. Though best known for his work at Blenko, Wayne spent over 60 years designing after he left the company. He established Wayne Husted design in the San Francisco Bay Area in 1972. Wayne returned to Alfred in 2011. less
