Incredible and planetary table lamp; it has a round chromed metal base inside of which three tubes, also chromed, of different heights have been fixed that have the function of lamp holders, the special and particular bulbs that fit perfectly into the style of the object, are attached to the lamp; the entire structure is covered by a sphere of smoked glass, a sphere that can be removed for cleaning simply by manually loosening small pins on the base; in the lower part of the sphere, a semicircular opening has been made for the passage of electrical wires, on the edge of this there is a small nick (see photo) that is not visible as it is hidden by the metal base. The lamp lacks a manufacturer's sticker label, but based on the style, materials, and workmanship, we can attribute it with certainty to the German firm Doria-Werk, which produced it between 1960 and 1963. Doria-Wenrk was founded after World War II in Fürth, near Nuremberg, Germany in 1948; it was a company for the production of table lamps, wall lamps, mirror lamps, and pendant lamps; the models were always original, distinctive, and excellent quality, which is why Doria-Werk had great international success between the 1960s and 1970s. The name changed over the years. The in-house design team was called DORIA-Studio. The company is often referred to as Doria Leuchten. Unfortunately, the Doria Firm closed for good in 1986. The style of the lamp is the "Space Age", this aesthetic current was born at the dawn of the space age, commonly attributed to the launch of Sputnik in October 1957, and continued until the 1970s. Objects from that period are characterized by essential volumes that recall geometric shapes, which definitely broke with the rationalist tradition. with the Space Age style begins a journey into the past that turns to the future and fantasizes about technological imagery in space; Spherical shape predominates for most decorations and lighting, often, if several spheres are connected to each other, explicitly recalling the shape of the atom (see in our lamp the spheres of light bulbs enclosed in the large glass sphere!); In the Space Age style, the use of reflective materials is also very common, especially for lamps, to recall the typical color of space technologies: steel, nickel, aluminum, and silver. Our lamp is developed around linear and circular elements that integrate perfectly, it manages to be well contextualized in any room, giving that touch of originality and particularity that warms the environment; its design of the 60s leaves room for freedom and innovation, it unique piece to be exhibited with care and to be told, it is not a simple lamp, it is much more! Measurements diameter cm.32, height cm.27. The lamp is in good condition. Small nick in the sphere where the electrical wires pass through. The electrical system is working but the wiring is European, the compatibility of the voltage in other countries must always be checked by an electrician before use.
