Pretty and particular small basket in colored opaline glass; made between 1965 and 1970, it was blown in one piece without joints, then shaped with mastery by skilled and creative Master Glassmakers in an artisanal furnace in Murano (Italy); The most difficult and particular operation was to leave the opaline white on the outside of the object and make the inner part with other colorations; metal oxides were added to obtain the different colors when the draft of the white opaline basket had already left the furnace, at the precise moment when the oxides began to melt and amalgamate with the white, the craftsman began the blowing and shaping of the basket by also stretching the glass to form the handles and join them, he did this quickly and quickly, so that the colors were distributed only on the surface of the object without penetrating, as if they were brushstrokes, then put the basket back in the kiln for a very short time and then proceeded to cool quickly; an operation that not everyone is able to do, in fact it is delegated only to Master Glassmakers; the basket was then taken to the milling department where expert artisans proceeded to sand, finish and finally polish it; a small work of art created with magical mastery and unparalleled skill by a great Master Craftsman in a magical, fascinating and artistic place: a handcrafted furnace in Murano. The making of this object confirms to us that the Venetian aptitude, celebrated over the centuries, for glassmaking is an alchemical combination of liquid matter worked out by artisan intelligence with happy artistic intuitions. Measures diameter cm.21, height cm.18. The basket is in good condition. What may appear to be small defects inside or outside the glass (bubbles, lumps, streaks, etc)are instead evidence of craftsmanship and not the result of modern mold operations. less
