Except in the spring. There are flowers blooming in the Japanese Garden due to the Japanese practice of "mono no aware". This practice can be understood by how the flowers's fragile efflorescence captivates our attention so briefly during the first bloom of spring. Crucially, our appreciation of its beauty is heightened by our awareness of its transiency, in a way thay would be missing if its delicate blossoms were a permanent feature of the landscape. less
