Introducing an original, signed acrylic painting on canvas by the well respected Kuwaiti painter Ghadah Alkandari. This particular piece is part of a limited series entitled "Stories of Eves" which consists of is a collection of eighty-two paintings of fictional women displayed in a pitch-black room.
The daughter of a diplomat, Alkandari’s childhood and early teen years were spent in far flung destinations such as India (the country of her birth), Algeria, Spain, Iran, Syria and Egypt. The latter fed her artistic formation and was where she received her BA in Mass Communications from the American University in Cairo in 1992, followed by a painting course at the School of Visual Arts.
Alkandari has participated in a number of exhibitions with highlights that include the Institute du Monde Arabe in Paris (2006), Dubai’s The Third Line and the Arab Museum of Modern Art (2012). Alkandari's body of work ranges from large-scale acrylic portraits to smaller, more intimate pen and ink drawings. Her paintings are primarily figurative, exploring the wide spectrum of human emotion and familial complexities which are on full display in this thought-provoking painting.
