A darling pair of porcelain figures, country farmers each with a wheelbarrow carrying a large basket with blues and greens and a large blue bow. The baskets could be filled with flowers and used as little vases. Beautifully painted, embossed at the base, finished with clear glaze

Signed "E R Erphila Est. 1886 Germany" in green inside a cogwheel
Each also bear a black paper sticker "Golden Crown" with large silver crown, on black with "E&R" Germany

Erphila was a giftware firm founded in Philadelphia in 1886 by two German immigrants, Theodore Ebeling and Frederick Reuss. They imported porcelain, ironstone and earthenware from Czechoslovakian and Bohemian factories as well as other European countries including Limoges, France. Their mark is a combination of the letters E & R {Ebeling and Reuss} and the first letters of Philadelphia.
