Description: This is a beautiful Herend Rothschild bird espresso/coffee pot hand-painted with two birds on both sides, and decorated with butterflies … more This is a beautiful Herend Rothschild bird espresso/coffee pot hand-painted with two birds on both sides, and decorated with butterflies and insects on a white ground. The top of the ceramic pot has a beautiful yellow bird. It would be a lovely addition to your coffee or tea time. The Herend Rothschild Bird pattern was originally made by Herend in 1860 for the very prestigious and wealthy Rothschild family. The Rothschild family absolutely loved this pattern. Twelve bird motifs were hand-painted each having two birds which represented love and relationships surrounded by butterflies and insects to incorporate the feeling of nature. It is a legend that the glittering necklace you see painted on the motifs came from a beautiful necklace that Baroness Rothschild lost. At first she assumed someone stole it. However, one day when she was walking through her garden, she saw two love birds and much to her astonishment she saw her lost necklace in the tree next to the love birds. This is how the legend began. less
