This bucket shows definite signs of age and use as all great vintage items do. It has worn over the years and has odd minor dents and markings. It will clean up a little more (with warm soapy water and/or alcohol solution) if you prefer that look. You may even wish to restore it (the brass) to its former glories - though I have to say I love its distressed aesthetic just as it is now. Examine all the pictures closely. Zoom in & out to get a good sense of it's exact condition: a picture tells a thousand words. The bucket photos serve as a document as to its condition. You will receive the exact bucket pictured here. less

This is a marvelous old brass bucket that originates from Northern India. Look at pic#5, the handle has a mark on it which is very similar to Punjabi markings prior to Partition. For that reason and looking at the beautifully distressed state of this bucket, I would date it to the first half of the 20th Century / early 1900s. If you have any further thoughts on this then do please let me know (I spent some time traveling around India in the early 2000s and I find the country, its history and culture most interesting).
The bucket has a beautiful fruit (grapes? berries?) pattern that has been hand engraved by hammer. A hole has been drilled in its bottom which indicates someone probably once used this bucket as a planter (it obviously cannot hold water anymore).
It measures 9 1/2" height x 11 3/4" width x 9 3/8" depth and weighs a solid 2lb 9oz.
Also of interest is the fact that this bucket was sourced at the Sony Prop House in Los Angeles which closed down in September 2023. On the bottom of it is a Sony reference label (which you can remove if you wish). If you think you may have seen this bucket in a film or T.V. show, then you probably have! I have no C.O.A. other then the Sony label which I assume was added so as not to lose it on a studio set somewhere.
What a history this bucket must have! It will prove to be a fabulous find or gift for the collector of rare brass, Eastern antiques and film memorabilia.
All our items are well packed, tracked and fully insured. It will arrive to you in the exact condition as pictured.
VINTAGE CHUCK SAYS: This is the only one I have so don't delay if you want to make it yours. :o)
