Initially planned as a dragee scholarship for a family baptism, this small Elchinger vase will be so successful that he will be produced in series at the earthenware. The free shape recalls that of a fabric and the vase offers a nice contrast between the green enamel interior and the matte black enameled exterior. Its small format and its vintage look authorize an offbeat use, we love this model diverted in a pot with pencils or brushes!
The vase is enamelled, shiny green inside, black glacis outside. The colors are intense and deep. Free in shape, the vase evokes a scholarship. A discreet shine is visible in a photo. The part is signed.
11cm by 8.5cm, 12cm high.
"Ceramics Elchinger" is a family business installed in Soufflenheim in Alsace in 1834. Since that time, generations have followed one another and have offered a production as varied as before-guardist. Léon Elchinger (1871-1942) will mark the spirits by productions of artistic sandstones as well as magnificent Art Nouveau potteries and then Art Deco, with magnificent colors and brilliance. Less known than the Chambost, Ruelland, Jouve and Capron, Fernand Elchinger (1911-1975) will be one of the great ceramists mid-century. We are a fan of its productions free forms, "handkerchief" vases and especially the contrast games between deep blacks and bright yellows, red or green!
