Antique bird's eye view of Blois, France by George Braun and Frans Hogenberg. This map appeared in Civitates Orbis Terrarum, a six volume town atlas, that was first published in 1572. Subsequent volumes were published through 1619. This appears to be an original copper plate engraving from Civitates. Plate marks are evident as shown in the photos. Coloring is assumed to be after, although it could be original. The sheet measures approximately 21" x 15.5". The plate marks approximate 12" x 17".
This map has condition issues including toning, tears, etc. It's also relatively brittle. Please examine photos closely and not acid free repair tape on verso.
