The inside lip that the lid fits on has a spot that dips down lower than the rest, however there is no roughness or chips. That part of the lip is also unglazed. The bottom of the box has a few dots of some kind of material running along the edge. Not sure what it is but the box sits flat less

The lid is beveled and there are hand painted details on each edge of the lid. The box is stamped China on the base and was made for US export between 1891-1918. The inside of the box has a glossy white orange peel texture. It measures 5" x 3.5" x 1.75" and would make a lovely accent addition to a living room, bedroom, office or family room. less
