the ceiling lamp ph snowball, is a modern and at the same time timeless ceiling lamp from louis poulsen that was designed in 1958 by poul henningsen, denmark.
the lamp has an oval, sculptural design, made up of several layers of shades that ensure a glare-free light spread. The screens have different shapes and sizes, six of which face downwards and two face upwards. Designed to cast soft shadows and provide symmetrical, uniform light distribution that is glare-free and diffused. Enhanced by the polished top surfaces and matt underside of the slats.
when the lamp is lit, the entire structure lights up and spreads a soft, pleasant light in the room. The screens are made of die-cast aluminum and are painted in a white color, with a matte interior and a glossy exterior. The luminaire housing is made of pressure-turned, high-gloss chrome-plated aluminum and the frame in cast, high-gloss chrome-plated aluminum.
ph snowball was first shown together with poul henningsen's iconic ph 5 lamp at the kunstindustrimuseet in 1958, but it was actually until 1983 before snöboll began to be produced for the market.
