Colorfully charming Palm Beach Regency-inspired lusterware bud vase with two whimsical parrots perched upon a branch that serves as the bud vase. Lusterware is a technique that is centuries old. Lusterware is a pottery with a metallic glaze that gives the special effect of iridescence. The iridescent quality is the result of a metallic glaze that is applied during the last firing. The final glaze luster is usually composed of different metallic ingredients. There are four principle colors of lusterware: silver/platinum, copper/brown, gold and pink/purple. This cutie’s hand painted lustrous peach, green, yellow and coral colors are vibrant with a mother-of-pearl effect which changes depending on lighting. The perfect pop of color to brighten up a bookshelf, mantle, vanity top or alongside other like-minded pieces on an entryway or console table. It states “Made in Japan” on the underside but no maker. In excellent condition with minimal age-appropriate wear. Of note, there are two small spots on the interior back where the green paint was painted onto the peach surface (see photo 8) which does not affect its beauty or utility. This cutie measures 6¼” x 4¼” x 3¼” H/W/D; interior depth of slender bud vase is 5” high; weight 15 oz.
