On either side of the top is a heavy brass hinge with the raised letters "AF" on the outer face allowing for a heavy forged iron swinging handle. From the base of the pot to the top if the raised handle is 21.75" high. Would make a great place to keep firewood and kindling on the hearth of a fireplace. Or could also be used in a guest room or bathroom to hold rolled up towels and washcloths. less
