Description: At a time when bread, which was a precious commodity, had to be kept at least for a week, strange … more At a time when bread, which was a precious commodity, had to be kept at least for a week, strange small furniture appeared.
Originally from simple wooden cases, it was in Provence in the 19th century that the panetières became more and more sophisticated.
This Provencal panetière is no exception.
It opens through a surface door mounted on an iron hinged with functional original lock called safe with input and key.
The facade and the, openwork sides are garnished with a succession of bars turned in a spindle.
The front amounts, also turned, end with small doe feet.
The low cross and the pediment, cut off, are embellished with patterns of flowers and scrolls.
This regional conservation piece of conservation is summoned to four angles, as well as in the facade, of plumes also called specks or bobches.
The interior is made up of seven slats.
This panetière, witness of us and customs of yesteryear, will bring a traditional touch to your kitchen, failing that, it will make a lovely and original storage space.
