Description: Pickard vase with ruffled lip, in vellum (matte( finish, painted and signed by Edward Challinor. Challinor worked for the Pickard … more Pickard vase with ruffled lip, in vellum (matte( finish, painted and signed by Edward Challinor. Challinor worked for the Pickard Studio in Chicago from 1903 until his death in 1952. The Walled Garden pattern showcases Challinor's skill with trees and flowers. It is said that he mixed his own paints, and never shared his mixing secrets.
This vase has an old chip on the inner rim which was painted over at that time; not very noticeable but it does affect the value. Priced accordingly.
Mark indicated production between 1912-1918, with position beside the blank mark suggesting a later year of that time period. Bottom is also marked Imperial Austria, who provided the blank for decoration. less
