Matthew Miles, a listed American painter, was born in 1927 in Philadelphia. He painted landscape scenes from his time spent roaming New England countrysides.
This is a painting depicting a mother and child walking through tall grasses by a lake. You can see the reflection of a farm scene from the water. The pastel hues and serene image are both calming and meditative.
The frame seems to be original and is quite ornate.
