Purchased at auction, this charming double figurine of two women with a basket of apples is one of the very best examples of Hilkka Rautio's designs for Arabia Finland. One of few double figurines, this (surprisingly heavy) little piece is worked in clay with beautiful carved detail, hand painting, and superior glaze work. The fine craftsmanship is apparent throughout – even to the stems of the apples – and helps bring the charming vignette to life.
Approximate measurements: Height 4”, Width 3”, Depth 2”
Condition: This figurine is in excellent vintage condition. There is minor wear to the surface of the glaze, and faint signs of use on the bottom, but otherwise excellent condition. The glaze and colors are bright and vibrant, and the piece is signed on the underside with both the Arabia mark and the artist’s.
