This piece is printed on silk fabric. The silk is gorgeous and has a small vertical tear on the right side border. The detail in the picture is exquisite and you will find new things every time you look at it. It was difficult to get photographs that could represent how beautiful this piece is due to the reflection on the silk fabric and the glass.

Lawrence Alma Tadema 1836-1912
A painter of mostly classical subjects, he became famous for his depictions of the luxury and decadence of the Roman Empire, with languorous figures set in fabulous marbled interiors or against a backdrop of dazzling blue Mediterranean sea and sky. One of the most popular Victorian painters, Alma-Tadema was admired during his lifetime for his draftsmanship and accurate depictions of Classical antiquity less
