Advertising Poster by Leonetto Cappiello, framed with plexi. A wonderful piece to fill a large wall, this impish devil has tons of personality. There is a clean, graphic quality to this poster with its lack of details, the lime green devil floating on a solid black background.
Leonetto Cappiello was a very famous and popular artist and poster designer in the first decades of the 20th century, designing for Campari, Cinzano, Revel umbrellas, among others. Maurin Quina was a cherry and quinine vermouth type drink that ceased production in 1906.
The condition of the poster is exemplary. It has some original printing irregularities, with some ink in the white border. The original registration marks are visible at top and bottom. There is a little water damage at the very bottom of the poster and there is a chip in the bottom edge of the frame. The frame itself is a clean, simple black beveled frame that offsets the poster without distracting from it.
Purchased from Ross Art Group (a copy of documentation will be provided upon purchase with previous owner's name redacted). Verified as an original vintage poster. less
