Early 20th Century Hutschenreuther Selb Bavarian 'Scotch Thistle' Dinnerware- Set of 19. The Hutschenreuther porcelain factory started production in 1814, established by Carolus Magnus Hutschenreuther in the Bavarian town Hohenburg an der Eger. He employed artists craftsmen and sculptors from all over continental Europe. Lorenz Hutschenreuther, Carolus’ son, opened another porcelain factory in 1857 in the Bavarian town of Selb. The Selb factory was so well managed that it was able to compete with famous British porcelain brands. This rare set of 19 pieces are adorned with an intricately painted, vibrantly colored purple and green scotch thistle. All of the rims are gold plate. Retail price is $333.
