This vintage 5x9 rug, hand-knotted in wool, circa 1960-1970, as inspired by European influences, is a new addition to Rug & Kilim Collection. This rug is a commemoration of the multidisciplinary Turkish designer Zeki Müren.
On the Design:
Connoisseurs will appreciate this design that represents one of Müren’s unique plays of subdued colorway and geometric floral patterns that would become his celebrated styles. Its design showcases his ability to create a modern interpretation of classic floral patterns. Keen eyes for detail will further admire that this piece has been clearly inspired by European influences such as French Aubusson and Savonnerie rugs, with the most interesting modernist hand in its colors.Müren’s artistic capabilities shine through, in his deliberate use of eccentric colorway combinations, resulting in a visually striking composition.
Condition:
This vintage Zeki Müren rug further enjoys good condition for its age and origin. Its construction has been lowered to preserve its construction, which lends it the distressed look of wear and chic in a low pile. less
