The Melody can be defined as a ‘homage to a homage’: making reference to Salvador Dalì, the most representative artist of the most unsettling characteristics of Surrealism, at least to the general public. The chair takes as its inspiration the painting dedicated to the much admired Pablo Picasso. Drawn from the image, which is a complex symbolic tangle, the form of the ram’s horn becomes a spiral-shaped backrest, and the mandolin, whose notes are engraved on the seat, references artistic accomplishments. less
