In the Elettrica, the backrest reprises the solar rays which occupy the top part of the canvas in Offer to the Sun by Giorgio de Chirico. In the painting a promontory arises as a dividing line between opposite and connecting worlds, suggested by a simple undulating thread, which we find too in the lines of the chair. The aesthetic experience translates itself in the art of De Chirico in the opportunity to access a metaphysical, aspatial and timeless dimension, by means of an inward gaze. This gaze inspires the form of the eye at the base of the backrest, a symbol of the subjective cognitive process. less
