Ching Ming is a traditional Chinese festival that is celebrated on the 15th day of the first month of the lunar calendar. It is a time to honor the dead and to pay respects to ancestors.
There are many different traditions associated with Ching Ming. One of the most common is to visit the tombs of ancestors and to clean them. People will also offer food, flowers, and incense at the tombs.
A popular activity during this time is kite flying. In ancient times, people used to tie pieces of paper with lists of their ailments and problems to a kite. They would then cut the string once the kite was high in the air and let it soar away, believing this to fend off misfortune and evil spirits. Another tradition is to have a picnic in the park or in the countryside. This is a time to enjoy the spring weather and to spend time with family and friends.
