A rare find, this exquisite framed artwork by Palo Alto-based artist and craftsman Booker Morey features etched Linden leaves (basswood). It is signed and numbered by the artist. While others leaf pieces can be found by the artist, these graceful linden leaf artwork is rare.
Booker's quest for eco-friendly and sustainable handmade art led him to focus on celebrating the beauty of leaves. His artistic technique - sometimes also used in semiconductor manufacturing - reveals the skeletal structure of leaves otherwise invisible to the naked eye.
This shadowbox construction, framed in burled walnut, is a graceful, striking addition to any room - office, bedroom, den or family room. We kept this beauty in our bedroom and away from natural light to protect it.
Booker's work began in 1993. As his website - leaflines.com - explains, he and his artisans etch the leaves using a proprietary process. They then "infuse each leaf with hues of color inspired by nature's own color palette. The final result is a distinct, one-of-a-kind leaf that is meticulously composed on a branch and elegantly framed in a shadowbox, providing the viewer with a three-dimensional depth of view and bringing to life the leaf's graceful beauty." Well-cared for, these leaves are durable and will last.
