Based on the artist’s love of nature, each candlestick is a miniature sculpture evoking a copse of small trees. Bronze sculpted and 24ct gilded surfaces, inspired by the grooves found in bark, are highlighted by the reflection of candle light. The 4-piece set of candlesticks is executed in bronze using the lost wax method. Each candlestick is hand-made, carefully polished and gilded honoring the tradition of classic craftsmanship. The Arbor set fits modern and contemporary as well as traditional interiors due to its timeless, abstract shape and the use of high quality materials and craftsmanship. Barbara Palatin-Doyle is an artist, a docent for the Decorative Arts Department at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, and the founder of Studio Palatin. Born and bred in Vienna, the artist lives and works between her home town and New York. She specializes in handcrafted, sculptural lighting in limited editions. Her passions are table lamps and candlesticks. As an artist, she incorporates materials and techniques reflecting the exquisite craftsmanship of the 17th and 18th century in contemporary design, combining art with functionality. less
