- Internationally recognized glass artist, Kent Ipsen was one of the pioneers of the American Studios Glass movement. His work in … more Internationally recognized glass artist, Kent Ipsen was one of the pioneers of the American Studios Glass movement. His work in cast glass appeared in the influential 1979 exhibition "New Glass: A Worldwide Survey". This exhibition was the first major international survey of studio glass." He later went on to found the highly respected glass program at Virginia Commonwealth University School of the Arts" and chaired the Crafts Department. His work has been exhibited in the Vatican Museum, the Smithsonian American Art Museum, the Brooklyn Museum and the Corning Museum of Glass. Dwell Magazine featured his life and work in the June 26, 2013 issue. The blown glass Memphis Style bowl was probably inspired by the Italian Design Collective founded by Ettore Sottsass in the early 80s. It is signed and dated on the side of the bowl Ipsen 83. Very good condition - one small fleabite approximately 1/32" diameter. less
