Tennis anyone? Perfect for your favorite player! Each cup (8 total) is engraved with the match name, winner's place, and date (1960s to 1980s).
Elegant and extremely versatile, these pewter Stieff Jefferson cups are as suitable for serving a festive beverage as they are for holding flowers (gorgeous!), coins or other treasures. Holds approximately 7 oz.
The Stieff Pewter company was founded in 1892 and made the finest pewter items. Their pewter contained no lead unlike other brands that were not as careful with the content of their pewter.
"What is a Jefferson Cup?
A Jefferson cup is a low, round-bottomed tumbler that was popular in the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. In 1810, Thomas Jefferson commissioned a Virginia silversmith to craft eight tumblers from silver cups he inherited from his friend and teacher, George Wythe. The silver tumblers remained at Monticello for the rest of Jefferson's life and were a regular fixture on his dining table…he probably never imagined how popular they would become!
What do you drink in a Jefferson Cup?
Pewter Jefferson Cups are great for cold drinks. They retain a modest chill and trap in the liquid's coldness, making it perfect for iced cocktails like mint juleps, beer, and wine." — edited from www.monticelloshop.org less
