Here is a STUNNING folding Asian screen from the later mid-century that has 6 panels and a beautiful, black lacquer background finish. On the front side, there is an amazing bamboo landscape scene and you can see the plethora of stalks and leaves, which look so pretty. The designs on the front feature a mixture of carved details and painted details. You can see this more closely in the 4th and 5th photos. The lacquer has a lovely parchment look that is subtle, and reflective. On the lower left hand side is the artists signature. The reverse side of the screen also has the black lacquered background and is painted with motifs in a gold-tan color. This is a statement piece, very solid and exquisitely made.
