Superb quality craftsmanship exhibited in the skillfully carved body of Christ. Above is the INRI plaque. The base is unique from other examples we've seen, carved with four grotesque mascarons of devils. The base of the cross with the initials of the carver, S.A. Total height is 21 3/8" x 7 5/8" wide across x 5 5/8" deep. The finely carved corpus of Christ measures 7 1/8" height from hand to foot x 5" wide hand to hand. In overall good-fair antique condition with general wear commensurate with age. Lacks to one finger tip and toe, as shown. Age related cracks in the wooden base and some lacks to the devils as shown. less
