Edythe was a part of an artist community of Abstract Expressionists who moved from New York to the banks of Lake Chapala outside Guadalajara. She painted this painting as an ex-pat living there.

She became an artist of note with shows in NYC, Mexico, and Miami. In Mexico Edythe met and married famous artist Harry Kidd. They eventually settled in Key West. Her paintings from the 1940s show Mexican themes. This painting pre-dates her marraige and is signed Edythe Wallach. Read more about her at Lake Chapala Artists. less
